Summary

The "dossier" is the RCMP's official statement of details about a missing person, and is available from the RCMP website as an official printable "missing" poster intended for distribution.

When investigating a crime (or hoping for leads from the public), details matter. However, the dossier for Lisa's case contains several errors, and has had some inexplicable edits over the past few years.

These are serious claims and thus, details were meticulously verified, wherever possible. More information including sources at: https://lisamarieyoung.ca. All claims can be verified.

Copyrighted works (including video/image news clips) are used under s.29.2 of the Copyright Act of Canada, "fair dealing for the purpose of news reporting", and as such, a complete list of sources/authors/broadcasters are listed below.

Recent versions of Lisa's dossier: (archived copies)

Out of 1000's of dossiers on RCMP's website, Lisa's is the only one with an instruction to only contact the police directly?

Video Transcript

The RCMP's Dossier, which is the official "Missing Persons" poster for Lisa's case, is also littered with mistakes.

The date is wrong, and even Lisa's height & weight are reported differently from what RCMP stated in the Crime Stoppers video. Some other examples:

The dossier mistakenly says Lisa was wearing "Black Shoes" when, in fact, the distinctive feature of Lisa's outfit was her zip-up thigh-high black leather boots.

Also, the description says "Lisa has not been heard from since" [leaving the party]. This ignores the fact that Lisa made an ominous phone call to Dallas, when the driver refused to bring her back to the party.

“I call her back, and she goes, ‘Dallas, I don't know what's going on. This guy won't bring me back. Some confusing changes were recently made to the dossier.

Up to 2018, "this" was the dossier's description. Beyond the incorrect date, and other issues, the description is also worded inaccurately, as if two imply that Lisa was meeting a bunch of guys, which is the opposite of reality.

In 2019, the description was updated. No corrections were made, but a single line was added: "Due to the nature of this investigation, Nanaimo RCMP requests that anyone with information contact them directly." This raises more questions: What is this "nature" they're referring to? ...and out of 1000's of dossiers on the website, why is Lisa's the ONLY one with a statement like this?

While we're on that topic, Why is Lisa's case the ONLY one with which RCMP "no longer works with Crime Stoppers"? If that's an official policy, then how come it's been spoken ever only by 1 Corporal, and no other member?

Back to the dossier, In 2021, much of the description was re-written. Other than poor spelling and grammar, another incorrect date was added, as well as an especially cryptic sentence about a taxi. There was no taxi that night, and nobody's ever suggested that there was. Where did this new information come from, in 2021? Why go to the trouble of adding this claim, yet not mention Lisa's ominous phone call to Dallas, nor correct any of the errors in the document?
