"City woman's whereabouts still unknown"

Parents of Lisa Young, 21, say they have few new leads after daughter's disappearance.

The search continues for a young Nanaimo woman who has been missing since the weekend.

Lisa Young, 21, was last seen in the early hours of Sunday at closing time at a downtown nightclub on Skinner Street, said her parents.

Fearing she has met with foul play, they contacted police and have also begun their own search.

On Thursday her mother, Joanne Young, said they had little new information on what may have become of Lisa or her whereabouts.

It's awful, she said, you see things in the paper that are terrible and you just never imagine it will happen to you. Lisa, she said, was close with her parents, in daily contact with them and would have called by now.

Lisa was also supposed to move with the help of her father Sunday, and begin a new job Tuesday.

Joanne Young said they had one unconfirmed report she was seen in a maroon car on Skinner Street with five men at closing time.

They have also had people report they saw her at the club that night, but they are unable to say little else.

Const. Jack Eubank, with the Nanaimo RCMP, said police inquiries continued Thursday with no new information pointing to either finding her or the possibility of foul play.

But Joanne Young did say police had wanted to talk with one man they termed a person of interest.

Joanne Young said her husband, a Purolator driver, has the co-operation of his co-workers who are now distributing posters bearing Lisa's picture throughout the Island.

Anyone who saw Lisa on Saturday night and into Sunday morning, or who knows her whereabouts, is asked to call police at 754-2345.
