Musician aids search fund

As her daughter's 20th birthday approaches this Monday, Joanne Young is feeling anything but celebratory.

Her daughter, Lisa Marie, has been missing since last summer and there's still no sign of what happened to her or what her fate may have been.

But Joanne and her husband Don continue to hope for good news and do all they can to keep their daughter's name and face in the public eye in case anyone has any tips that could lead to the solution to the mystery.

They're putting up a billboard at the south end of town and local musician Allison Crowe, who wrote a song about Lisa Marie, is donating a collection of newly-pressed CDs including that song and five others to the family.

"We can sell them and raise money for the Lisa Marie Search Fund," says Young. "They should be ready in a couple of weeks and they'll be on sale at Mac's Convenience Store on Departure Bay Road.

"We're grateful for the help from Allison and (her manager) Adrien and for all the people who are helping us keep her name out there.

"Sometimes we feel very alone but people's kindness and generosity help4 us feel a bit better about life."

A fundraiser is set for Saturday night at the Queen's Hotel as well.
