Vigil planned for Lisa Young

It's been almost five months since local woman Lisa Young went missing but for her family it has felt like an eternity, says her mother Joanne Young.

Young is holding a candlelight vigil for her daughter, Dec. 7 at the Mid Island Unity Church at 7 p.m.

Lisa disappeared June 30, 2002.

"Everyone is invited to come down and take part in a spiritual evening of hope," Young said. The vigil is being held to raise awareness that Lisa is still missing.

Young is hoping to play Lisa's Song, written by Nanaimo's Allison Crowe, who went to school with Lisa at the vigil.

She said the past five months have been frustrating for her family. Although they've received great support from the community, not knowing where their daughter is has taken it's toll. A search with friends and family will be organized for Nov. 30 and the police are still investigating.

"We know the police are working very hard and doing their best," Young said. "It must be very hard for them too."
