| | |
| Lisa Marie Young has been missing since June 29, 2002 — nearly 21 years ago.
| |
| | |
| There are numerous Lisa Marie Young signs distributed throughout Nanaimo displaying her face and name to keep the hope alive that her case will be able to be closed.
| |
| | |
| On the night of June 29th, 2002, 21-year-old Lisa Marie Young left her parents’ residence at around 11 p.m. to go to a nightclub with friends before going to a house party.
| |
| | |
| Friends said at the time she left the party with a man in a Jaguar — to this day, the man hasn’t been identified.
| |
| | |
| There are reports that Young called a friend after leaving with the man in the Jaguar stating she didn’t know what was going on and that the man wouldn’t bring her back.
| |
| | |
| Police believe Young’s disappearance was the result of foul play even though they’ve never found her remains.
| |
| | |
| Now, Nanaimo RCMP says that people have been reporting these signs missing, and they are trying to track down information that will lead them to the culprit.
| |
| | |
| In total, seven of the signs have gone missing between Sunday, April 16th and Tuesday April 18th.
| |
| | |
| Police say the bulk of the stolen signs were mounted in a grassy area next to the TD Bank, Country Grocer and located at the intersection of Bowen Road at Dufferin Crescent.
| |
| | |
| A long time friend of Lisa Marie Young, Cindy Hall, told the Nanaimo RCMP that she is shocked beyond belief to think that anyone would take the signs.
| |
| | |
| Hall had been the one to place them and as she did so, she says she spoke with the nearby businesses.
| |
| | |
| Police have ruled out that City of Nanaimo staff had anything to do with the missing signs.
| |
| | |
| Anyone who has information on the whereabouts of the missing signs should contact Nanaimo RCMP at (250) 754-2345.
