Divers to search for Young
With information gathered by a psychic, a private dive team will be at Colliery Dam today searching for evidence of Lisa Young, missing now for nearly 13 months.
Joanne Young, Lisa's mother, said the team from the west coast of the Island will be at the upper dam this morning conducting the search. She did not say what they might be looking for. Young said the information came from the psychic following the one-year vigil held for Lisa several weeks ago.
Lisa went missing on the July 1 weekend in 2002 and has not been seen or heard from since. Police quickly concluded that foul play was likely involved in her disappearance. Several searches by Mounties in remote areas in or near Nanaimo revealed nothing.
Lisa was last seen leaving a downtown nightclub which she once worked at. Although police had a number of tips and were able to find the car and driver she was last seen in, they have so far been unable to learn what happened to her.
Both Young and her husband, Don Young, disappointed by the lack of progress by police have been pushing for any help they can get to solve the mystery. Aside from seeking the help of the public and psychics, they have also put up posters all over the Island and billboards in Nanaimo asking for information.
Anyone with information about what happened to Lisa can call Crime Stoppers anonymously and for a potential reward at 1-800-222-8477.
