A crime [[:Category:Island Crime|podcast]] is shedding new light on a woman who went missing in Nanaimo nearly 18 years ago.
Twenty-one-year-old Lisa Young went missing on July 30, 2002, and police soon after said they believe foul play was involved.
The podcast is revealing new details about Young and the case. There’s hope it might mean those who have information will share it with the police.
''“For me, it’s really important that Lisa’s not forgotten,”'' said Carolann Bosma, Young’s foster sister.
The night Young went missing, she had been partying with friends. She later left a home with a man in a Jaguar. There are two phone calls to a friend who was still at the party.
''“Sure enough, it’s Lisa on her cellphone. I call her back. she says [https://www.cheknews.ca/man-dies-after-being-struck-by-a-vehicle-in-nanaimo-sunday-433013/?fbclid=IwAR17nbiH0bJE9WQa3kqD6TeQMugu1on04kSDMT8uEd3uI2az59xwwRWJa8M Dallas] ‘I don’t know what’s going on. This guy won’t bring me back. We’re sitting in a drive-way on Bowen Road and he won’t bring me back. We’re just sitting here. I’m bored I’m getting pissed off,'”'' said Dallas Hulley, a friend of Young’s, in an interview in August 2002.
Young hasn’t been heard from since.
Her foster sister is among those who are glad there’s a renewed interest in Young’s story.
