RCMP lied about how often they searched for Lisa
Summary
RCMP investigators have misled the public about how many searches have been performed in relation to Lisa's disappearance.
Detail
RCMP investigators have made multiple statements that would imply that several searches have been performed in relation to Lisa's disappearance.
In reality, Nanaimo RCMP have searched 2 locations for Lisa.
- The Biggs/Doumont area[2]
- the search was delayed repeatedly including due to prioritization of another case
- searched by RCMP on Sept 17, 2002, between 9:30am and noon)[3]
- Two months later Lisa's family repeated the search of the same area.[4]
- Backyard of 827 Nanaimo Lakes Road
- Initial search took place between December 1 - 15, 2020[1]
- Search with
Ground Penetrating Radar and a police dog
on Dec 16, 2020[1] - Investigators later returned for an unpublicized third search (likely using a resistivity search method such as FPR)[5]

While we can't say for sure that investigators haven't performed additional searches out of the public eye, we will hazard this assumption based on how RCMP's openness with these two search locations. Confirmation would require access to the RCMP's case file (containing "15,000 documents and hundreds of witnesses"[6]), but it is so far "sealed" from public access. See Accessing the RCMP file.
